Workflows

Workflows are a new feature of monday.com introduced in early 2025.

At the time of writing, workflows are available to accounts on the enterprise plan, and will be rolled out for all accounts on the professional plan by October 2025.

We expect more accounts to be able to access workflows in 2026.

How are workflows supported in the Microsoft 365 integration?

We are in the process of migrating a number of previously available automation recipe sentences for use with workflows.

As Microsoft 365 is an external system, many of the predefined recipe sentences could not be supported by the recipe sentence builder. The introduction of workflows solves this problem.

An advantage of workflows is the ability to sign in to an external account such as Microsoft 365 as a number of different users. This allows a single monday.com user to perform workflows using multiple Microsoft 365 account, thereby increasing the flexibility of the integration.

Another key advantage of workflows over predefined recipe sentences is that you can decide which trigger will execute any workflow actions. This simplifies things greatly by decoupling triggers from actions, meaning the 35+ predefined recipe sentences can be served by fewer workflow actions based on the triggers that you decide to use. It also means that as a vendor, we can deliver value quicker by concentrating on the workflow actions in isolation.

Which recipe sentences have been converted for use with workflows

At the time of writing, we only the following actions supported on workflows, but more will be added as time goes on.

How do workflows access by Microsoft 365 data?

Workflows use the recently released Workflow credentials for a user to access data within Microsoft 365.
